Friday…I Think

 - You know, we are in for a rough time for the 2024 elections.  Regardless of who wins, there will be violence, endless court actions, pundits falling over themselves calling each other and everyone else traitors. Whoever wins, lawyers will make a ton of money…

And THAT is the problem. Elections used to be a free for all, now they are something different.  Lies are nearly expected. The results are always suspect, and don’t really matter much anyway. We all have the right to have our voices heard, but those who exercise their voices by rioting, looting, violence, and general destruction negate MY vote, which frankly, is unacceptable.

If folks want to express their displeasure, do so in a way that doesn’t ultimately cost me money.

- Mel Street was perhaps the most honest and legit country singer/composer in my lifetime, with Gary Stewart coming in a close second. Both of these men could take a song and turn it into an experience, something most of us could relate to, remember, and adopt as part of our own history.  Sadly, both men died by their own hands, and sadly the music and memories are largely forgotten by today’s “country” “artists.”

They crafted their magic without drum machines, auto tune, hand claps, and all the other production crap. When you heard a Mel Street or Gary Stewart song, there was no mistake: you were listening to country music. Gawd, do I miss this.

- I’ve been thinking of a new career as a stunt double for cartoon characters.

- A few examples of what blind obedience to out of control governments include: prison guards at Nazi death camps…attempted genocide of American Indians…Spanish Inquisition…Cambodian killing fields…mass executions in Iran, Iraq, hell almost the entire Middle East…

Point: offer loyalty to your spiritual guide, not some schmuck in a necktie and suit.

- Seen: the idea that life is short is false.  It’s in fact the longest thing you’ll do

- Someone needs to do a 21st century remake of Harper Valley PTA…one in which the note tells of her son really wishing he was a daughter, because his teacher said so

- So…finally went to get a haircut Tuesday.  Let’s just say it had been quite a while. Walked into a nearby shop, they asked me to leave head over to the nearest American Legion on the days they offer free haircuts to homeless vets. Let’s just I refuted that, and got immediate service when I flashed a brand new $5 bill

- Just when I thought we’d hit peak stupidity, along come Adidas now selling transgender targeted swimsuits, another tranny on the cover of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition, psychiatrists teachers and basically the whole federal government says their positions/roles in life outweigh parental rights.

- Some person(s) unknown drove their older van to a gas station parking lot, right here in Tall City, parked it on top of the place where tanker trucks refill underground tanks of diesel.  Ok, but while there the van occupants opened a trap door, unscrewed the tank cover, and stole over 600 gals of diesel fuel.  Pretty bold.  A gallon of diesel weighs 7 lbs, so they weighed that van down with +/- 4200 lbs of fuel. Surprised the vehicle could move at all.  That’s about $17,000 in losses.  Just, wow

- A fairly new technique of digitally scanning shipwrecks has shown what the Titanic looks like right now, in amazing detail. Over 700,000 scans were taken over the entire length of the two ship parts and the debris field. I’m curious if this technology has been/will be applied to Navy vessels that were sunk during times of war
